Everything but the bagel seasoning is a must have pantry staple particularly during the warmer months.
Now the warmer weather is upon us we’ve starting eating more salads, so it was time to knock together the best topper ever.
A little back story, a girlfriend of mine went to the states last year and sent me a hamper of goodies, and amongst the sweets was a seasoning mix called ‘Everything but the bagel’ from Trader Joes. My life was made (despite finding it a little too salty) so it was time to make my own when we ran out and I’ve been doing so ever since.
We sprinkle it over smashed avo on toast, poached & scrambled eggs, salads, homemade bread, cottage cheese & hummus, but add it to anything you fancy.
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
2 tablespoons black sesame seeds
2 tablespoons poppy seeds
1 teaspoon of salt
1 1/4 tablespoons dried onion
1 1/4 tablespoons garlic granules
• I use freshly ground rock salt but have also used salt flakes and ground Himalayan too, all just as good.
Place the sesame seeds in a dry pan over medium heat and cook for approximately 3 minutes shaking the pan often until golden in colour and you can smell a nutty aroma.
Place all ingredients in a jar and shake to combine and store in the pantry. It truly pimps all the food.
