DIY Dinners – Serving Platter

DIY dinners using a serving/snack platter are kind of a big deal in our house. And not just for the kids either, I could squeal with delight on the days we opt for these meals, as I can chop and prep everything, click on the lid, and store it in the fridge until I’m ready to cook.

I have quite a few of these servers, so call it an addiction if you will…..ha ha. You can purchase them from Tupperware, Big W, most dollar stores and Aldi also had them recently, so just keep your eyes peeled.

I find serving our meals this way a total sanity saver too, and frees up more of my time in the afternoons to help with homework and watching the kids bounce around on the trampoline.

My children generally tend to eat more if they are involved in serving their own food and they love to help in the kitchen with the prep as well, so it really is a win win.

Below the kids favourite it to make homemade pizza. They love to create their own and are so proud when their creations are fresh from the oven.

We have been using a server for years, and in this time I have found so many uses for it. Another thing I love, is that I am not using a heap of small bowls so there is less washing up, and if we have leftovers, I pop on the lid and store it in the fridge and use them in an omelette or on wraps the following day.

Here’s a few meal ideas and ways we use our snack server for family dinners.

  1. Tacos
  2. Nachos
  3. Burritos
  4. DIY salad bar to go with a meal or BBQ
  5. DIY fill-a-spud
  6. Asian chicken lettuce cups
  7. Homemade pizzas
  8. Omelette’s
  9. Mini quiches or Quiche boats ( recipe here ).
  10. Caesar salad
  11. Chicken and salad wraps
  12. Making homemade dumplings.

If you have one of these servers, I highly recommend using it in this way.
