My sweet little Harlan turns 3 tomorrow, so we opted to have his party today and celebrated at home with our family, and a great day was had by all.
Nothing quite went to plan this year as the main items for his rabbit themed party never arrived in time, so it was a mad dash yesterday afternoon to quickly change his theme. This resulted in maximum stress levels for me, many tears and a quick hunt through Pinterest to find a theme that he both loved and that tied in with the red and pastel blue I had based his party around. I was over the moon to find gorgeous party printables, and free at that, and they were from Tiny Me. We opted for a construction party and added the free printables to cupcakes, party bags and glass milk bottles, and I am so happy with how it came together and in such a short space of time. It just goes to show that a party can be thrown together at the last minute and on a budget.
The gorgeous cake we ordered from the lovely Nicole at Simply Sweet Dessert Co, and it tasted as wonderful as it looked. We chose mud cake as it’s Harlan’s favourite, and it is the best mud cake I’ve ever tasted, every plate was empty. I opted for quite a simple cake and love how it tied everything together.
We indulged in a cheese platter, lots of chips, dips, carrot sticks and crackers, and for lunch I served all the traditional party favourites. Party pies, sausage rolls, mini quiches, sandwich and wrap platters and a few other goodies.
For the the dessert table, we had cupcakes, macarons, wrapped chocolates, number 3 sugar cookies and jelly cups. I used small 150ml Apothecary jars and filled them with red jelly. I added washi tape to bamboo spoon handles and tied them to the jars with a little twine. A great cost effective way to pretty up jelly, and you can use any colour to match your theme. I love I can sterilize the jars and use them over and over for future parties too.
Here are a few more pics of the set up.
The party definitely isn’t perfect, but I am secretly high fiving myself for how it came together in such a mad rush.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you have had a wonderful Valentine’s day. I am off to indulge in yet another slice of cake lol and smother my little handsome man in kisses and cuddles on his last day of being 2.
