Harmony’s Mexican Party

Harmony’s Mexican party was held today and it was a huge hit.
I can’t quite believe my first born will be 11 on Tuesday, time really does fly while you’re having fun, and I’ve well and truly been blessed with my girl.

This was the first year Harmony hasn’t wanted a big party with all her friends from school in attendance, so she requested her favourite cuisine which is Mexican. She invited all the family, her cousins and her best friend to celebrate, and we had a great day. It was also nice to have a very basic, low-key party this year with very little fuss. No Pinterest worthy party pics here that’s for sure ha ha ha.

A tween party theme can be quite tricky, but a buffet style lunch was a huge hit and the kids went nuts in the pool and on the trampoline, so they pretty much kept themselves entertained after lunch.

I was in luck that Kmart has a great fiesta party range, so I stocked up on food boats, plates, cups, napkins, flags and decorations. I also found two of their ceramic cactus’ for only a few dollars each and used them on the table.

Burritos and taco boats.

Sides –

Chilli
Lemon wedges

I only managed to snap a few photos today and apologies for the poor quality but it was extremely overcast here so I’ve had to brighten them up a little.

Such a fun and simple party, and I think this would be great for all ages. Even if you are having a different themed party, DIY Mexican would be a winner for the food element, because who doesn’t love tacos and nachos right.

Oh and I even totally cheated on the cake this year by buying one.
2.4 kilos of Black Forest goodness from Costco for only $19.99 WINNING!

  1. Hi, this looks amazing. My husband and I are having a day of the dead party for our combined birthday’s this year. Where did you find your decorations, especially the bunting I have been looking everywhere and am only coming up with options from south America.
    Thanks in advance
    Nikki

    • Hi Nikki,
Oh wow, what a great idea for a party.
All of the party decorations were from Kmart, including the bunting. Apparently they have recently gone on clearance, so hunt for them while you can.

  2. I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the issue is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
