Golden Gaytime Balls are SCRUMPTIOUS and even better they only require 3 ingredients for the win!
This recipe comes about both due to being addicted to Gaytimes (best ice-creams ever in my opinion) and after making a batch of honeycomb last week that needed to be used. Don’t sweat it though, no honeycomb needs to be made for this recipe, I tried it with store bought Crunchie bars and it’s just as good.
I was going to try this recipe with caramel top n fill or slow cooked sweetened condensed milk but I didn’t have either, but by all means you can experiment with those. I had a tub of Coles Caramel icing in the pantry and it worked beautifully and has the same caramel/toffee like flavour a Golden Gaytime does.
These are by no means healthy, they aren’t a bliss ball (although they bring me ALL the bliss) so best for desserts and parties and perhaps not the school lunch box lol.
1 packet of Milk Arrowroot Biscuits
1 tub of Coles Caramel Icing (sold in the baking aisle)
1 small fun size Crunchie bar
2 tablespoons of water
In a food processor blitz 2 milk arrowroots and the crunchie bar together and then set aside on a plate.
Blitz the remaining biscuits until there are no large chunks. Heat the icing either in the tub or transfer to a heat proof bowl and microwave for 45 seconds.
Stir and pour into the food processor and blitz with the biscuits. You may need to scrape down the sides, and if the mixture isn’t wet enough add the water (mine required 2 tablespoons) and blitz until well combined.
Roll into balls and then into the biscuit and honeycomb mixture and place in an airtight container.
They are as simple as that. I found they were even better the next day as the biscuit crumb softened much like a traditional Gaytime.
